The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), in partnership with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM), invites proposals for development and execution of pilot studies for regional fisheries research and monitoring for Southern New England in relation to the Massachusetts and Rhode Island/Massachusetts wind energy areas.
RFP highlights:
- Up to $1 million is available for one or more studies.
- Funding is provided by the study sponsors: BOEM, MassCEC and Rhode Island Dept. of Environmental Management.
- Studies must be within and/or directly relevant to the fishery region ranging from Nantucket Shoals and the Great South Channel extending southwestward to Long Island. See the figure below.
- Proposals are invited for studies within three topic areas:
- Fishery resource studies;
- Seafloor habitat studies; or
- Technical studies (on how to maximize compatibility of offshore wind and fishing).
- Fishery resource studies;
- Proposals are due October 17, 2019.
