Greetings —
A webinar will take place this Monday, April 13, at 10 am. It is specifically targeted to the RI commercial and for-hire fishing industry, but may have applicability to many farmers and others in the fishing and local food communities. All are welcome to listen in, and ask questions. Please feel free to share this invite broadly.
Laura Hastings, from the RI Department of Labor and Training, will provide information and answer questions regarding unemployment insurance benefits, which are now available for independent contactors and self-employed individuals — e.g., commercial fishermen — who may have been previously ineligible for such benefits. Advance information is available here: http://www.dlt.state.ri.us/
Mark Hayward, from the Small Business Administration, will provide information and answer questions regarding resources and programs available to small businesses impacted by COVID 19, including the Paycheck Protection Program, a loan program specifically designed to help small businesses keep their workforce employed, with loan forgiveness provisions. Advance information is available here: https://commerceri.com/covid-19-sba-loan-faq/
