NOTICE – Modification to possession limits and/or seasons for marine species regulated under quota
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Summer Flounder – vessels with a Summer Flounder Exemption Certificate will be two hundred (200) pounds per day, until further notice.
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Summer Flounder – vessels without a Summer Flounder Exemption Certificate will be two hundred (200) pounds per day, until further notice.
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Summer Flounder for participants in the Summer/Fall period of the Aggregate Program will be seven (7) times the daily limit (200 pounds), or one thousand four hundred (1,400) pounds per week, until further notice (permitted vessels only).
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Black Sea Bass will be one hundred (100) pounds per day, until further notice.
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Black Sea Bass for participants in the Summer/Fall period of the Aggregate Program will be seven (7) times the daily limit (100 pounds), or seven hundred (700) pounds per week, until further notice (permitted vessels only).
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Scup General Category will be ten thousand (10,000) pounds per week, until further notice.
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Scup Floating Fish Traps will be unlimited, until further notice.
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Bluefish will be six thousand (6,000) pounds per week, until further notice.
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Menhaden in state waters outside the Menhaden Management Area will remain @ one hundred twenty thousand (120,000) pounds per vessel per day, until further notice.
- Beginning 12:00AM on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the Menhaden Management Area will remain closed to daily possession limits, until further notice.
1. Beginning 12:00AM on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the commercial possession limit for Menhaden in the Menhaden Management Area will be six thousand (6,000) pounds per week under the weekly possession limit provisions, until further notice (specific rules apply; see recently filed rule Part 3 – Finfish, section 3.21.2(A)(1)). Note this opening date is due to the effective date of the recently filed rule.
Possession limits are subject to modification throughout the year; it is the responsibility of the licensed fisherman to comply with possession limits and all such modifications.
