CARES Act Fisheries Assistance Funding Update
The application period for CARES Act Fisheries Assistance Funding closed on Monday, September 28, 2020 and the appeals process is currently ongoing. A total of $3,167,923 in federal funding assistance was available for eligible participants in the Rhode Island commercial and for-hire fisheries, including commercial harvesters, commercial aquaculturists, seafood processors/dealers, and for-hire vessel/business owners. Once the appeals process is complete, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission will distribute checks by mail to approved applicants.
