[Rimarinefisheries] OW MARINER UPDATE NO. 21 (areas 501N; 501S; 522 and a control area)
Dear Fishermen:
During the month of November the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s School for Marine Science and Technology (SMAST) is conducting a fisheries trawl survey following the Northeast Area Monitoring Assessment Program (NEAMAP) protocols within the Vineyard Wind Lease Areas (501 North; 501 South; 522) and a control area.
Trip #1 will survey in lease area 501 North with 20 tows inside the lease area and 20 tows in the adjacent control area. Trip #2 will survey in lease areas 501 South and 522 with 10 tows in each.
Geotechnical surveys will take place in Vineyard Wind Lease Area 522; the southern portion of Vineyard Wind Lease area 501, and between the Lease Area 501 and Cape Cod, including Muskeget Channel and Nantucket Sound. Location: Shallow water just outside of Centerville Harbor and Muskeget Channel Geological surveys beginning on or about September 23. Vineyard Wind kindly requests no wake from passing vessels to prevent unnecessary vessel roll that could be unsafe to the people and equipment onboard. READ MORE >>
