RIDEM Division of Marine Fisheries would like to invite you to an upcoming outreach event hosted by the RI MRIP team, specifically geared toward Rhode Island’s for-hire fleet.
We’re holding an Rhode Island MRIP Open House on Wednesday, May 8th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the GSO Hazzard Auditorium on the URI Bay Campus, 215 South Ferry Rd, Narragansett, RI 02882.
The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
5:30: Coffee & Doughnuts
6:00: RI Marine Recreational Information Program presentation
6:30: Mid Atlantic Marine Fisheries Council For-Hire Sector separation update
This informal evening is an opportunity for captains to:
- Meet the local APAIS field and support team
- Gain a better understanding of how for-hire recreational fishing data is collected and used
- Ask questions or share feedback about the APAIS survey process
- Discuss the importance of participation, especially in light of emerging discussions around sector separation
The for-hire sector plays a critical role in helping us achieve more accurate, robust data that directly influences fisheries management decisions. Your participation—and that of your customers—makes a measurable difference. Coffee and donuts will be provided! Spread the word!
